your questions

We’ve all got questions when something is new, so we’ve tried to cover most of them here, but if there’s something you still need to know, just ask…

Will I get clients?

There is no reason if you have an existing client base that you won’t already have a client base right in front of you. Just be sure to tell anyone and everyone that you offer this incredible service. You will be surprised how many people also don’t know that this is even an option for them or someone they know. The amount of clients we have treated through telling them about it or that they have referred us is huge. Social media is amazing, but not everyone is on it, so be sure to talk about it and also promote it within your clinic. We will share lots of our marketing tips with you on training that have been tried and tested.

If you are a complete beginner, there are multiple ways you can attract and grow a client base, and we will be able to give you plenty of suggestions & tips on this.

Common reasons for SMP
Many reasons will be a factor in why someone may want or need SMP, but a few of the more common are:

  • Male or Female Pattern Baldness
  • Post-partum shedding
  • Hormonal hair loss (i.e. menopause)
  • Thyroid issues
  • Weight loss/ weight loss surgery
  • Alopecia
  • Stress/Trauma
  • Traction alopecia (excessive use of extensions or tight hairstyles)
  • Damage to the hair/follicles
  • Failed Hair Transplants/Hair Transplants that worked but need a little something extra to help blend and build density
  • Scarring
  • Skin conditions and disorders
Who is a candidate for SMP?
As long as your client is over the age of 18 and are not on any contradictory medicines such as Warfarin/Blood Thinners or undergoing any treatments for your hair loss, it is very likely they will be a good candidate, regardless of age or gender (subject to legal minimum age requirements as above)
What can you charge for SMP
Pricing of SMP varies depending on a few factors such as the outcome desired, the number of sessions it will take, the size of the area to be tattooed. Typically, we advise that pricing starts at £250* with full head treatments averaging £2,500.00 for 3 sessions.

(*example would be a small patch of hair loss or scarring from FUT and for a single session)

Is there really a market for SMP?
Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

Here are some statistics:

  • Hair loss affects 8 million women and 35 million men in the UK
  • 21 million women worldwide suffer hair loss and/or alopecia
  • SMP is still very under saturated, and whilst it has been around for a few years, it is still pretty new, which means you are coming into it at a GREAT time and will be building your name and reputation as it continues to grow.

How long will it last my client?
Your clients will see great long term results – that age and last well, but they may just be looking for a little refresh to make it pop a little more down the road, so generally speaking we would say on average they may come back every 2 ½ to 3 years (sometimes longer as it really does vary person to person) for a little refresh appointment.

SMP is deemed permanent, but the pigments will very slowly fade out a little over time. But we do deem this a permanent procedure.

How many sessions will it take?
A few factors can play into this such as skin type – e.g. oily or texture, how well the body retains pigment, after care but generally speaking density work is around 2–3 sessions and a shaved/bald head is 3 (occasionally 4 – for complete head that exceeds the Norwood scale 7) sessions to complete.

Session1 and two can be as close as 2 weeks apart, session 2-3 we advise 6–12 weeks.

Would my clients see results immediately?
Yes! You will definitely notice a difference from the first session, but sessions two and three are when the magic really happens, and you see it all truly come together.
